 Mariana Melin in a knight within the Knighthood of the Academic Art of Riding. That means she is educated, and educates others, in the basics and depths of the old masters techniques and philosophies - continuously updated with the insights of modern time.

The dressage is there for the horse
- not the horse for the dressage.
The horse is educated based on its personal abilities and limitations, concerning both body and mind. Well adapted and -performed dressage enhances the horse and makes it strong, supple and proud - well equipped for a long, joyful and healthy life.
Many academic riders see the riding as an art form. Art in motion. To get there you have to build a frame of good basics - educate a riding horse.
A riding horse with a nice academic basis can be ridden with one hand, carrying itself and its rider in balance and a relaxed yet potent motion. It can do shoulder in, haunches in, traversal, renvers and a half pirouette in walk and trot. It has a nice, carrying canter.
Once there - anything can happen. Art, for instance. Or just pure joy. :-)
